The Making: Entry 3

The Vessel

In a place of imagination, everything we do, we do out of love.

The Nitch is no exception to that rule, and so we feel that every copy of the work is deserving of
it's very own vessel.

That being said, we have chosen the form of The Saccellus (latin for 'small bag'), within which to keep-safe each copy. As I will explain, we had many difficulties in sourcing a fiber with strength properties suitable for our needs, and even MORE trouble in harvesting the Glitch stew needed to imprint the bags. You see, the swamp wherein The Glitch hunkers down, is a place not easily found, let alone returned from...

The Furserves

Our Southern sailing fleet, lovingly referred to as The Nethereens, searched for 11 decades before finding the fiber for our little bags. This should be considered by the acquirers of these little buggers, as no expense was spared in this lengthy effort!

Anywho, The fiber needed, turned out to be the back-hair from a race of jellyfish off the shores of the South Sandwich Islands. These delicious beings, known as The Furserves, and their fine yet indestructible locks, are just what we needed. As you can see, the animal produces an immaculate product, not to mention the corporeal remains, which makes quite a tasty spreadable!

The Stew

Upon finding the evasive Furserves a great celebration commenced, and the champagne flowed free, until that is, my Cartographer emerged from the chambers below deck with a swath in hand and a furrow in his brow.

It turned out that after a sample weaving, the fabric would not accept ink! This was of course most troublesome, after nearly 111 years at sea (cue the sad trombone). So our Alchemist set off straight away to develop a suitable substance for imprinting.

After exhausting every variable in our stores, the Alchemist turned to our last possible hope.... The Stew from The Glitch's pot. Though we knew it might work, we staved off the possibility to the end, for if it was to be our option, it would mean several more years of strife left ahead this journey.

Success!

As you guessed, The Stew worked marvelously, and so we had found the solution. And while I was quite unpleased to know that we would be heading back into The Glitch's lair, I was relieved to have a working method.

Now it was time to press The Saccellus.

The Result

And so my fiends, it can always be said...
While searching for magic, there will always be dread.
Though if you keep faith and you make strong your search,
The greatest rewards from your journey will birth!

The finished Vessel.
